FUN WITH FRIENDS

A few months ago I embarked on a 3 days photo shoot with two inspiring friends and we worked together from Rooi Els and Betty’s Bay to Kleinmond. We photographed, sharing ideas and techniques, stimulating each other in an easy flow as we felt relaxed, connected and inspired to make the most of misty sunrises to vibrant sunsets.

In the early morning, joggers and fishermen were out and in the evening people walking along the shore curiously interacted with us and pointed us towards locations a little off the beaten track. From the beaches to crashing waves, sand dunes and jetties, we had a great time exploring every opportunity we encountered. One of my favorite was some colourful canoes lined up along the lagoon.

It took me a while to get my collection of pictures organised as I battled with new equipment and new post processing programmes but ultimately, I LOVE my new Mirrorless FUJIFILM X-T2!

OKAVANGO DELTA IN BOTSWANA

The best thing we ever decided to do on the spur of the moment was to fly to Pom Pom Camp in the Okavango Delta.

This is where we spent a few days waking up to the call of Fish Eagles with very noisy Hippos frolicking in the pond in front of our Lodge and Lions roaring in the distance.

We saw lots of amazing birds, many being a first for Guy who was in heaven as he was involved with the nomination by UNESCO of the Okavango Delta as a World Heritage site and could finally fly over & see the area after all his hard work.

The game drives were the best ever with knowledgeable  trackers and we saw all kinds of antelopes, Lions, Leopards, Elephants etc. But my favorite was drifting around this expanse of water at sunrise, in the shallows far from the hippos. In the silent mokoro all we could hear was the sound of the reads parting in front of our pirogue, the calls of the birds and looking for the enchanting, tiny  Reed Frogs amongst many other things. Not one mosquito!

It was beautiful to fly over the Swamps and see herds of animals gathering at water points below us, sadly the dream was over too quickly.
Our most sincere thanks go to the great team of Rhino Africa Safaris http://www.rhinoafrica.com for this marvelous trip.We cherish memories of this experience which reminded us how beautiful the wildlife, the landscapes, the sunsets and the people of Africa are.

TABLE MOUNTAIN

Believe it or not I have been in this country for 50 years this year, a photographer for 26 years and did not have one shot of this iconic view people come from the other side of the world to see!!!! Last weekend I decided to photograph from Bloubergstrand area for 2 days. Well now I have it from close, from far, with colours with fog……….

The first evening on the beach there was no wind, fabulous clouds and after going through many colours, changing its mood several times, the sunset turned into spectacular reds and I could not resist wanting to capture its entire splendor with my fish eye lens. The next day was totally different as a thick band of fog sat on the horizon but the last light and cloud formation was dramatic.
